Edward Smith principal's message

principal

Here at WEST, we offer an innovative educational program of excellence for the whole student in a multi-cultural environment that prepares students for lifelong learning. The student experience at WEST is not just time spent but rather years invested and enjoyed.

Our purpose statement, Building a Community of Learners and Leaders, is based on the belief that educating students as lifelong learners as well as building them up as future leaders provide for a strong foundation for college, career, and life success.  Our vision is for WEST to be a recognized school of excellence. At WEST, we strive for excellence and believe all of our students can achieve at high levels in academics, fine arts, and athletics.

At West, students are encouraged to discover, explore, and create in order to develop the attitudes and skills necessary for effective living. In addition to educational success, prime consideration is given to developing moral values, a positive attitude toward life, and a healthy self-concept. We encourage each student to become actively involved in clubs and activities in order to more completely enjoy school and prepare for their futures in a diverse world community.

I am truly excited to be Principal of Putnam City West.  I have a long history here at West and I look forward to continuing our journey in achievement and excellence together.
